I have two original Triumph radio's.... one from a '73 that is AM/FM and one from a '76 that's also AM/FM BUT the '76 radio has a little orange light on the upper right side of the dial.
Also, the '76 has balance (L/R) adjustment that the '73 doesn't have.
Does the light signify stereo, or does it is it just show signal strength of the station?
Did Triumph have stereo radio's back in 1976?

Balance = stereo. And the light probably indicates reception of stereo signal. As for "back in 1976", pretty sure stereos were available. But then, I've slept since then.

If you are interested, I've got the SAMS AutoRadio series at home. I can check when the "Triumph" branded radios went to stereo when I get home next week. (ST/BL didn't actually make the radios, they were made by Bendix or someone like that with the Triumph logo on the faceplate.)

But I agree with Mickey, that's almost certainly what you are seeing. Also, FWIW, I've got a schematic for a Motorola auto radio, dated 1972, with stereo outputs. So clearly such things were available then.
