I bought a basket case TR3B, frame restored, body was in 2 peices. Getting ready to put it all together but cannot find reference to the tranny tunnel. Does it bolt on to floor boards like TR6 or is it welded?

Thanks for the quick reply...I looked closer at the Moss catalog and now see there are bolts offered for mounting the tunnel. Thr flange for the tunnel was quite chewed up from rust. The new floor boards have no provisions for mounting the tunnel. I saw a post awhile back where someone found a captured nut with a wide flange for mounting with pop-rivits, this would be helpful. Also, I did not see a rubber seal offered in the moss catalog. What seals the connection? Butyl rubber caulk?

They are designed to be welded, but you can drill holes and use pop-rivets if you like. I think Mark Macy sells them too, perhaps his are already drilled for rivets.

I use silicone adhesive/caulk on my trans tunnel. Cheap and effective. Supposedly the TR4 seal strips work well, too.

Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure the replacement floorboards I got from TRF had at least holes, if not actual nuts, for the tunnel bolts. Don't forget, the seat rails use captive nuts as well.

I'm surprised that your new floorboards don't have the captive nuts welded on. The floors I got from Moss had all of the nuts in the proper positions.

Floors that I got for my 3A (I believe were from Moss) didn't come with any of the cage nuts welded. I did by them from Macy's and they are not pre drilled for rivets. Didn't matter to me as I welded mine on.
