OK, I have a 64 BJ8, but my other car is a 1957 T-Bird, which is really hard to re-start after it has warmed up. I put a lower temp thermostat in it, and it runs cool enough unless it is just idling in traffic. Then it tends to run hot. The engine temp also goes up a fair amount right after the engine is shut off. I suspect the gas is actually boiling out (evaporating) from the carb. The carb has about a 3/8 inch spacer (insulator) between the carb and the manifold. So I think I know the problem. I just don't know the fix. Ideas???
