Wire Harness

This winters project is an engine rebuild on my 1971 XKE OTS, while the engine is out, I will replace the dash, main and bonnett wire harness. The best price I have found is from British Wire in Illinois. Has anyone had any experience with this company? They advertise in the national MG newsletter. Any input would be appreciated. Also if anyone could recommend a good Jag vendor for parts quality, price, and availability I would welcome the input. Thanks, Rick

NOt sure how the prices compare, but you might check the harnesses at Classic Jaguar:

I think I bought mine from Rhode Island Wireing and it was pretty near perfect. The Classic Jag folks sell only the very best and I highly recommend youcheck them out.

PS: Let me know if you need any help with the new Harness. (Take lots of pictures when you remove the old harness).

If you're a member of JCNA , XKs unlimited offers a 20% discount and has a parts catalog thats very good .I used it a lot when trying to identify parts when it came time to put it all back together again. With their discount I felt XKs price on the wireing harness was pretty good. If you're going for concours , I would probably use one of the speciality wireing places and pay the extra. There were extra wires in the harness that made me feel as though it would also fit a later year than my 66 . I think they may have been for air conditioning which wasn't offered in 66. Otherwise except for a couple of connectors it was OK. If you're concidering replacing the windshield or the rubber, pull out the glass before you rewire as it makes access to the dash wireing much easier.

I bought a harness for my '67 MGB from British Wiring and found it to be very good quality, as well as priced right. Everything was the right length and everything was terminated properly, with the correct connectors, light sockets, etc. Admittedly the MGB's wiring is a lot simpler than the E-Type's, but the connectors, color codes, etc. are the same.

British Wiring also has a very complete catalog of all the wiring bits you might need in addition to the harness.

I have a LBC shop and I have nothing but great things to say about British Wiring.

They are courteous, knowledgeable, and have top shelf products.

No, I'm not related to anyone there!
