I really don't want to pull the TR4A tranny out just yet. That means seats out, dash apart, carpet out, etc.
Question: I see gear oil on underside and the rear part of the transmission, but I can't detect much back near the rear seal. I assume that's where it's coming from, though.
Maybe I just overfill it all the time. I checked it after about 5000 miles and found the level at the bottom of my pinky finger just about 1 to .5 inches below the filler hole, so I added more.
If I reach any fluid, say even an 1.5 inches below the filler hole, is there enough or does it need to be hovering right the filler hole level? (Because it sure isn't)
I assume a slow leak is normal in these cars?
Do they ever fix themselves? Hope. Hope.
Thanks, all.
