TR6 TR6 brake pedal drip

Noticed what appears to be break fluid on foot well under pedals in my TR6. There was a drip hanging on the rubber dust cover located on the brake pedal side. Released the pin connecting the brake pedal, removed the rubber dust cover, removed what they call the retaining ring, but found no filter. First, would the filter not being there cause brake fluid to be dripping? Second, if so, does anyone know the size, thickness, what have you of the foam filter that is supposed to be there. I will spend the 30 bucks if need be for a new filter...however I have read of guys making there own from lawn mower foam filters.

How is the brake fluid level? Sounds like it might be leaking through M/C into the booster and getting into the cabin from there? If so, a M/C rebuild and booster r&r to drain the fluid might be next in your future.

btw - I am not familiar with a foam filter on the M/C but there is a dust filter on the booster.

Brand new master cylinder doesn't mean a thing these days....unfortunately.

The missing filter wouldn't cause the drip. There isn't supposed to be any fluid inside the booster at all; although it may have been left over from the previous MC.

Sorry, can't help with the filter size. But it's not at all critical, just cut something that fits in the hole.

Am I missing something
Where does it say it is a new MC?

It doesn't say that, only that there is a leak dripping from the pedal. :nonono:

New MC is the answer to the question. :wall:

So...do I pull the servo and somehow drain fluid out, if, in fact it is there?
If so, what kind of a job am I in for???

Excuse me. I thought that was an answer. 105 here for the last two days and I'm old. Brain must have boiled over.

Wike, you will need to pull both, but you cannot tell if the fluid inside the booster caused any damage without separating the case halves, which requires some special tools. If it were me, I would send it out for repairs to Apple Hydraulic or another well known shop to have the diaphragm checked and rebuilt as needed.

As far as the new master goes, I would have the company that you bought it from send a new one and tell them that the booster may have issues due to their defective master leaking back into it.
