TR2/3/3A TR3 spark plug wire problems

This is getting old. 5th weekend in a row and don't have the car on the roadyet. Last night I finished putting the hubs on after new axal seals and didn't make it out of the driveway. As soon as I touched the gas the car would die. Traced it to 2 plugs not firing correctly. Pulled the plug wires off (it's always happens to # 3 &4) and the terminal inside the 90 degree plug pulls out and stays on the end of the plug. As soon as that happens your done. The wire inside the 90 degree cap is spring loaded and there is no way to get the terminal end back in and stay in because it was molded around the splines when it was made. I did come up with the bright idea to drill a hole in the end of the cap and push the spring loaded wire back then push in the terminal. When I was successful with that the spark would short circuit through the hole. Of course when I pulled the wire off the terminal was stuck on the plug again.

My question is what other plug wires can I use with the 90 degree terminal in place of these wires. This is the 3rd set I've been through in the last 5 to 6 years. Please advise.

Why do they have to be right angle? I've been running straight boots for many years with no problem.

If you just want to get out on the road, cut the boot off and strip back the insulation. Then loosen the nut on top of the plug, wrap the bare conductor around the exposed post and screw the nut back on. It's an ugly kludge, but it will work for many 1000s of miles.

Or for something fancier, try your local motorcycle shop for some plug caps.

Advance auto parts has a set I can order for $20. Their performance brand and a Denzo set. They had no pics so I don't know what I'm buying. I suppose it doesn't have to be the 90 degree wires so I'm looking for options. Going to try NAPA today. They may have components to build wires.

I use these:

They screw into the wires and snap onto the plug with a click. I have one NOS set and one repro set and can say that the repros from Moss are 'as original'.

Bacause the screw in the cap penetrates the conductor it is a good idea to use copper core wires with these -- but of course that is a good idea anyway for a solid connection at the distributor cap.

As stated, the right angle is not rerquired but I think it looks best as the leads can be quite short (short enough that it is not possible to connect the 4 wires any order other than the correct one.
