TR2/3/3A TR2 Right hand Drive Dash

I was toying with buying this car.... But I do not know as much on the TR2 as the TR3. Is a right hand drive version more valuable in the states. Or is that just a novelty thing?

If it were just a bit closer, I'd love to go look at it for you; unfortunately, it would be a day trip for me. I think the RH drive is more a novelty than a deal-maker or deal-breaker in terms of value.

And yes, it definitely "is a wonder what they can do with two inches of Bondo and a long board." You'll get no argument from me there. In fairness, though, that's not much different than the way these and so many other cars of the period were originally built (although I grant you "Bondo" wasn't so much a factor in the early 1950s -- lead was)! The big question is whether any filler used covers minor imperfections, major metal crinkling, or the dreaded tinworm?

Hi Randy - I'm surprised by that comment being as you liked the perfect 2 at TRA so much and were mulling that one over as well. Me thinks your not sure which way to go - a finished car or a project?

TRA caused far more issues than it resolved.

I am not sure anymore. I did like the look of the small mouth cars however and the TR2 long door has always been an intrigue.

the search continues....and is half the fun really.

I asked the guy why it wasn't "concurs" worthy - his answer "We changed too many things to make it a prefect concourse restoration, spin on oil filter, gear reduction starter, alternator conversion, are a few things that I can think of off the top of my head."

Nothing that can't be reversed if you were so inclined....

Looks like a good deal, subject to inspection of course and if you don't mind the various "upgrades".

Does seem kind of odd to be missing the top bows & LTD studs in Oregon, though.

So long as we're on the subject of ways to spend Randy's money, how about TS3083L?

Seems a pretty honest car...and with an interesting history as well!

Frankly I much prefer a later car, with front disc brakes. I had an earlier TR3 with the front drums for awhile (well, many years actually, but it spent most of that time parked in the side yard), and never could get them to work as well as the discs. Seemed like it always wanted to pull to one side or the other ... which might not have been so bad except it would change from one application to the next! New cylinders, shoes, etc. did not help (and drums were NLA at the time).

But that's just my opinion, I'm glad there are people like Lou (and apparently Randy) that want to preserve and restore those earlier cars. Just let me know, so I can stay either behind, or waay out in front on a run :laugh:
