I've seen these before, too. I've no idea if they're as cool as they look, and I won't be finding out. They look VERY expensive to me. I'm restoring my own instead.

Hi Dave, there is one to many "http//" in your addy.
Plug and play dash, cool!

Thanks for the heads up on the addy. It has been corrected and now seems to work properly. Sorry for the error.

I figured this might be a good option to someone who basically had all sorts of gauge problems such as not working or missing. Then it might be actually economical. He does seem to sell them periodically on eBay.

I tried to get a decent wrinkle finish on the 3A dash. Sprayed it and stripped it twice. Always had luck with wrinkle but no luck on the dash. Maybe since it's got more surface area than other projects and I don't get nice even coats.

So ...

I tried a wrinkle finish powder coat from Eastwood and first try, it not only is nice and even but MUCH more original looking than wrinkle paint. The original is very shallow wrinkle, just like the PC's finish, and spray wrinkle has a deeper grain.

My PC setup consists of the original Eastwood kit (that hooks up to your compressor), an old Thermador SS wall oven that my grandmother used to bake bread in, and a custom mode PC spray booth. The booth started life as an LG dishwasher box (cardboard), has an internal wood frame and shelves, slit open top with flourescent light and removeable bottom tray.

This guy has been selling these for a few years on E-Bay. His work looks very meticulous. Anyone needing complete gauge and switch restoration might find this set-up as being very cost effective. If you can do most of the work yourself, then it's a different ball game.

Edit: BTW, his buy-it-now price just last year was about $600. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I got to wonder where he finds all the guages he needs to do that.
If you are doing a checkbook restoration that would be the way to go.
I have used wrinkle paint with success but I follow the instructions to the letter and particularly using it in the proper ambient temp.

Cheers, Tinkerman

Looks like a nicely sorted panal. BUT... it's not for a TR2. at least not an early TR2. Thier instrument panals were covered in vinyl that matched the rest of the dash panal. No need to worry about wrinkle paint.
That piece would definatly save a LOT of time and headache to someone wo was missing most of those parts.

You might want to at least save a copy of that backside pic on the listing as it gives you some ideas on wire routing and fuse location.

Then there's my cardboard version...

...used it to mock up the bits prior to final assembly of the harness.

I spoke to him 5 or 6 months ago on swapping an intact gauge panel. Suppling him with a used panel and guages and him sending one of his refurbs in it's place. If I remember correctly he was going to charge $300. to $350.

And my 56 Tr-3 had Leather originaly, it too had the guage facia covered in leather.
Weather it was original or not I couldn`t say, but I suspect it was because the entire dash as well as the cockpit covers and seats were the same color and type of leather, {sort of baby blue}.
