TR2/3/3A Production Change

I'm doing some research for a fellow sidescreen owner..
Piggott says,"At TS12567, windscreen wiper motor changed from CRT 15 to Lucas DR2; mounting bracket modified , and motor now mounted on opposite side of car"
Attached are 2 photos I pulled form the internet, clearly showing the wiper motor on the same side as the Comm plate and the Comm. numbers are clearly much higher than 12567.
Any thoughts?

Those are both plates from TR2's, so they are below 9000. I don't know why there are more numbers than they should have.

Anyway, all TR2's had the wiper motor to starboard.

Edit, As I look at them closely, I read TS2014 with an extraneous looking "5" at the end...and 2245, with an obviously wrong "2" at the beginning. The "2" is obvious because it is not even the same size as the rest of the numbers.

They both looked like five digits to me at first glance.....Thanks for pointing that out.

I have a post 60,000 and for what it is worth the WW motor is on the drivers side. I just went through the TRA Judging manual and saw no reference to the position of the ww motor. I did go through it fast but there it is for what it's worth.

I downloaded and zoomed on both photos; I don't see any extraneous digits, just some spots that look like dirt or accidental damage. TS2224LO and TS2014O

The dead give away is the top of the plate that reads "20TR2". The final TR2 was, like, number 8900 and change.

My TR3 is very close to the transition point ... single speed wiper on right side. Cheers, Mike

Triumph was always using up parts on the shelf if they could and they did the with serial number plates at the 2 to 3 transition. Apparently they had upwards of a couple hundred plates and continued to use them up even though they are labeled TR2, (as does my '55 junker). I saw at least one TR3/2, which was badged a 2 at midOhio maybe 20 yrs. back. The owner admitted that he had simply installed a two badge and grill obtained from a salvage yard. The earliest cars and perhaps all the small mouth 3's had the same stamping die for the air intake sheet metal as the latest twos, which allows you to bolt on the two grill. To my knowledge, the last TR2 was TS8636.
