TR2/3/3A Next step to try to start TR3

I have been soaking all the nuts and bolts to remove more of the items in the motor area. I have been pulling the plugs and squirting ATF fluid in the cylinders every few days for about a week. I have ordered a tune up kit, Hoses, fan belt, gaskets, plugs, and I have been debating a few items. I thought about converting to a spin on oil filter.

The carb rebuild kit is on back order. I still need to take the radiator for a cleaning and pressure test. I need to order a thermostat and associated gaskets.

My other major issue is how to wire it up to bump it over. The wiring harness was ripped out a long time ago and no electrical components are mounted. I have them but need to figure what to connect to make it turn over and be able to kill it as well.

The last part was to rig up a gas line through the mechanical pump and to the carbs. Can I just get gas line by the foot and make the connections. I could pick it up at Napa or the likes. I don't need to specify a particular type of
line do I?

Thanks again,

It can be simplified for your test. If you look at my picture, you'll see a gas can sitting on the frame, with a gas hose running out of it that is attached to the fuel pump. (I also included a hand in-line primer pump since my fuel pump does not have a primer handle.) You can see my 'battery box' (an old recycle container) has a switch mounted to the front. It turns on/off power to the wire that connects to the coil (there is also a wire from the other side of the coil to the points). (I also added an electric temperature gauge with a voltage stabilizer and an ignition light, but those are optional.) The battery ground is connected to a transmission stud, and the positive side is connected to the solenoid. The other large stud of the solenoid is wired to the starter. All I need to do is press the solenoid to turn over the engine, and if the switch is "on", it will run -assuming everything else is in order.

I've been running mine like that for some time. Now I even have the generator and regulator circuits working. It is exciting to hear it run.

Don't forget to do something with the oil pressure line! It makes a mess otherwise ...

NAPA will want to know what size, you probably want 5/16" for the pump inlet (even though the line to the carbs is 1/4"). Ordinary low pressure fuel line will do fine, although some folks feel that "fuel injection" line lasts longer.
