Mounting a hardtop question

Hi everyone
Just got back for being on the road and have finished my rear fender rust repair. Am now mounting a hardtop for the first time.
Question is about the rear side seals TRF part #GP22.
Do they mount vertically so the curved lip seals against the rear deck forward extensions or flat and act as a cushion between the hard top and the top of the rear deck forward extension? This is hard to describe, the they would not cushion,the horizontal or flat way they would cushion between the top and the body.

Good question, I couldn't figure that one out either. I just left them out. Didn't want to scew them up putting them in wrong. Phil

Having just put on my hardtop yesterday...
They mount vertically. They aren't really a cushion, but are more of a sweeper.

I've always liked the look of a TR6 with the factory hardtop, but I never had one. A couple months ago I picked up a rough factory hardtop (see attached picture). Stripped, filled, primed and painted it. Bought new rubber and installed the glass, mounted it and drove about 100 miles yesterday. The car is quiter, visibility is great, and even though my six is a daily driver, it got more thumbs-up and stares than usual yesterday. With a shiney top it doesn't look like 'just another two-seater'

I ended up trying one that way and understand the sweeper comment. I also go some new window black fuzzy and bulb seals for around the windows but they seem to have the bulb seal up high on the u shaped channel moving it away from the window rather than at the bottom of u channel. My windows just reach the existing seals. I would like them to be a 1/4 inch higher or the top lower. Do you have this issue?

Yes, I had the same issue with a gap above the windows, so I went to my local auto parts place and picked up some generic auto weather seal.

I'm going to try to attach a couple pix I just took.
Again, this is a driver, not a looker. About a year and a half ago I bought 2 1972 TR6s, put the best into this car and sold the rest. I drive it year round here in Massachusetts and do my 50 mile round trip commute to work almost every day.

I had the same issue with the windows not reaching the top window seals. Thinking there must be some sort of adjustment for the window upper stop I removed the interior panel of my passenger door and proceeded to run the window to its highest point (when you hear a thunk of metal hitting metal) and with a mechanics mirror could see that there is an adjustable stop. There is a very small bolt about even or a little below and about 6" behind the handle to open the door. I loosened that and was able to get the window up another 1/4" and get a propper seal at the window top. The driver side I didn't even remove the door handles. I was able to pull the interior panel in at the rear of the door to reach the bolt raise the window up and tighten it back up. It was a hassle, but not as big a hassle as removing the handles. Phil again, Look at TRF spare parts catalogue volume 2 page 369 plate FE. Part 73 is the is the door glass stop. It's behind the inner door shell. The two bolts marked 74 hold the door glass stop, the front one acts as a pivot the rear one as the adjustment. Phil
