Mike:
My car (909) has stock steel Rostyle wheels. 4.5" wide. I run them because I have dozens of them and as a mid-pack hobby racer, they work fine for me. These are old wheels so I inspect them for cracks regularly (I've found some in the centers at times).
I dislike the Vega rims. I ran them ages ago and found the lugs "creeped" loose. The lugs holes are too big unless you switch to 12mm lugs (not that easy on the rear hubs).
I'm running Toyo 888s. These are "DOT/Race" radial tires with pretty soft federal wear number (about 80, I think). Size is 185-60/13. I used to run Toyo RA1s, but the 888s replaced that tire.
I like 36 to 40 psi HOT with 888s.
Our club (VRG) allows these DOT/Race tires as long as they are 60 aspect ratio or more. Tires should be treaded so no shaved slicks. The Toyos are reasonable (about $160 ea) and last for most of a season for me (5 or 6 weekends).
I'm running about 3 degrees negative camber and Zero toe.
I think Rich's car (#37), is running Hoosier TDs. Not sure of the size or his wheel size. The TDs are a more traditional vintage-type tire that some groups require. They are bias (not radial) and run much less tire pressure....roughly 24 to 28 HOT. They are more expensive than the Toyos and wear out a bit quicker (I think).
