Door Draught Metal Clips

I am in the process of replacing the door draught materials on my BJ8 Healey I received from Austin Healey Spares. Trying to figure out whether when doing so I need to use those little metal clips to hold it in place. Seeing mixed info on it, but looking at the clips it seems like they should be used as they fit nicely under the metal part of the cloth strip. If so, does anyone know how many should be used?

Are you referring to the the door seals thats clip onto the standing seam in the door opening .
I would say that most people are using the product from McGregor instead of the original style stuff .
It fits better , stays in place , seals better and doesnt require any additional clips . It has a built in metal spring clamp arrangement along its whole length .

Thanks for the response. Yes that is what I was referring to on the car. I have heard of McGregor in Canada but not until after I bought these door seals from AHS. Probably not the best sequence to follow. Think though you confirmed part of my question that the clips were used on the original doors. Car is basically original so will go ahead and use these parts but rethink it if I have to do it again.

I spaced them about every 4 inches but quite honestly the whole set up is useless as the alloy in the fur flex has no spring in it so doesn’t grip properly, so the furflex is always coming loose.

Thanks Derek, was hoping those clips would make a difference. Hate to waste my money but perhaps I'm better off just going to McGregor for the furflex materials. It isn't a huge effort to replace my current ones but I'd prefer not to do it for a while. FYI, the original Furflex on the car lasted for years using the clips so not sure why the newer supply fails so quickly. Maybe the new "springs" alloy is too feeble (cheap?) to hold.
