No not that kind of body tag.

Someone here had perfected the manufactue of reproduction body tags. Now that I need them, I can't remember who it was.

Perhaps KIP Motors in Texas, don't have their URL handy, but think it shouldn't be too hard to look up and ask them.

I think Frank in Pa has the gear for the repro tags. He posts on here regularly as angelfj with a TR250 avatar, so you should be able to track him down.

There is a post on the next page that answers this question. I can't manage to put a link to it, but it is called "Engine compartment replacement metal tags"

Here is a close-up of my new brass tag that Frank made for me with the correct number. The upper tag is black and came from the factory painted black when new. The original lower tag got corroded with battery acid because the voltage regulater was not set correctly from day 1 at mileage 7 when I bought the car until 1987 when I started my restoration at mileage 80,350.

The screws you see are the original screws.

I am curious what was the deal with the car having two tags again. I seemed to have mixed up my tags.

<span style="color: #990000">Amos was a short lived, functional 1969 TR6 that
I had for about 2 months. A blast to drive.

The Crypt Car is my original, 2 1/2 year owned, 69TR6 that is a bucket
of bolts, unreliable, breakdown special, money pit.</span>

I believe the top tag the one with 'EB' prefix and 5 digits was attached at the body shop when the body was built to identify the indvidual bodies. It's body color because it got painted when the rest of the bare body was painted. The bare brass tag with 7 digits was attached later on the assembly line when the rest of the car was assembled.

My new 2008 Piggot book just arrived <span style="font-style: italic">Triumph TR2, 3, & 3A in Detail</span> Here's what he says:

"The "EB" number was allocated by Mulliners who made the shells and is roughly equated to the car's "TS" commission number. The six- or seven-figure number was a Standard-Triumph addition, it is believed. A car's identity can be traced via this latter number, but not via the "EB" number."

GREAT new book btw. Just released. Printed in CHINA!!! ISBN 0954998154

The lower brass tag with all the digits was not just for TRs. These tags are not sequential on TRs because they were also used on Heralds, Mayflowers, Vanguards, and all the other S-T cars moving through assembly.
