TR6 76 TR6 Exhaust Installation

I snapped two studs at the manifold and got two nuts off, but the studs are not going to move. I soaked everything for over a week and heated up the nuts, but with no luck. I tried a bolt extractor on the two broken ones with no luck. The holes that I drilled for the extractor go all the way through the stud. Not sure where to go from here other than take the manifold off and take to a machine shop to remove the studs or just buy a new manifold ($400). Any suggestions?

What is the proper way to install the exhaust header to the manifold? I have a metal gasket that came with the Moss installation kit. Do you need any other gasket or silicone gasket sealer?

The installation kit came with 4 brass sleeves (1/4" tall). Do they somehow go around the stud bolts (if so how)?

Many Thanks!

You're talking about the 4 threaded holes at the bottom of the manifold in the picture below? If you've got a hole drilled all the way through the broken studs, I'd step drill the hole larger until just before hitting the threads. Then I'd try to either tap it to the thread size or hit the drilled out stud sideways with a punch to try and get something to grab on to with pliers.

I have no idea what the brass sleeves are for and don't see them in the Moss catalog.... do you have a part#?

Some guys do double up on gaskets but I found a thinker gasket at Parts Geek a couple of years ago. As you can see from the two pictures below the Moss gaskets on the top are thinner than the Parts Geel gasket. The Parts Geek has an open edge versus the Moss sealed edge.

The sleeves are not shown in the Moss catalog but they came with the installation kit (812-028).

So the thin Moss gasket is all I need, no gasket sealer? Should I use some kind of anti-seize when (eventually) I put new studs in?

If you do remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head, you might consider the HD gasket. (Moss 695-060). I used 2, one regular and one HD.
You should really not a need gasket sealer with that exhaust flange gasket, but if you want, try the copper high temp RTV from Permatex. I find it holds up well ..better than I thought on exhaust sections.
Anti sieze on the studs..I don't know; ideally the studs stay in place and just the nuts loosen for removal of the 'headpipe'.
