TR6 Hi From Tx/Direction needed on TR6 Points/Exhaust

Hey Gang, Thanks for the postings and this site! Have learned a good bit from ya'll in reading through some of your threads over the past couple of years. I inherited a 75 TR6 a couple of years ago- her name is Princess Beatrice. 48K orig miles, orig paint Java Green and until last month was doing great. The points/condensor went and she belched quite a bit which I believe blew some welds that a friend had patched her exhaust system with. I need some direction. Since I have no tools, the friend has moved out of state and limited knowledge - what would be the best action to take on repairs to the exhaust. Same thing on the suspension system- that is the only other thing wrong with her - need rear springs at minimum and need to have the front end looked at. Had a tuneup oil change done through my local Firestone shop -they have taken care of my other cars for the past 10 years. Can stay with them on somethings but wanted some other thoughts. Also, can anyone recommend where to get a manual and what basic tools I should start investing in and how do I go about learning to work on her.

Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Before we offer up any help, the name has got to go...Princess Beatrice? Sounds like an MG. Remember, 94% of all TR6's were bought by guys.

As to the exhaust, I'd suggest you simply replace it. Stock parts are not very expensive and are easy to install.
Tools you need for general repair are simple mechanic's tools; many retailers sell various kits if you prefer. Manuals are readily available from the suppliers; see their websites.
Don't know where in Texas you are, but most good sized cities have several Brit specialty repair shops for the tasks you may not want to undertake.

Re: Hi From Tx/Direction needed on TR6 Points/Exha

I would strongly suggest you find & join your local Triumph or British car club. So much to learn about these cars... they are easy enough to work on and advice is here on forums such as this but nothing can replace local knowledge and perhaps some willing helping hands.

As for the name... well, Princess Beatrice is a member of the Royal Family so it not as if she was named Madonna or Cher. I guess if you can drive among Texans with a car named Beatrice then you are welcome to it.
