    connecting rod stamps

have been watching the u tube videos with the guy in Austrailia rebuilding his 100-6. at one point he is showing his pistons and there is a +7 stamped on his connecting rod. i think he said all of his rods had that but that he had standard size bearings. he did not seem to know what the +7 meant. is that a weight measurment they used at the factory for balancing? or does the number mean something else?

I think you are right on. It makes sense that after the rods were finished that they would all be weighed , then similarly grouped for each engine. The marks would have nothing to do with bearing size.
