Easiest method for connecting Emerg. brake cable

Hi all.

Is it easiest to connect at the brakes first or at the brake handle first? The reason I ask is I don't have enough of the "Bolt" sticking through to get the nut on under the handle in the transmission tunnel. I have both sides hooked up at the brakes. Maybe I have the wrong cable? This is for the '64 with steelies not wires.

Thanks

Paul

Hey, Paul -

Is it routed correctly? If so, sounds like you may have the wrong cable. Recently hooked my new one up and had no issues.

Let us know what you find.

I agree with Mickey, as it's a pretty straight forward assembly. I had no problem with mine on the 72 "B". Sounds to me like you have the wrong cable, but then again, without seeing the problem, it's hard to say. PJ

Have you got the shoes installed and adjusted correctly first? And the cable sheath into the bellcrank thingie on the diff in its socket?

...just thinkin' out loud...

As far as I know I do, but without actually driving the car it is hard to tell. And yes the cable is routed through the thingies. Is the wire wheel cable longer then the bolt on cable or verse vicea?

There are different part numbers! Check this chart out. According to the chart, there is a slight difference in length between a disc wheel rear and a wire wheel one, which also varies with model years. PJ
