Who drove their Triumph today?

[ QUOTE ]
MADRIVER started something here with this post. I can hardly wait to get my TR6 on the road with me. It will be like an old reunion when it becomes a daily driver again. Lets see, gotta have a hard top (lots of rain in LA), new tires, reinstall the dash support amd a 550 mile trip. Sounds simple!

Glad I could cause some trouble. I drove Greenie *again* today and had a funny thing happen. I started hearing this strange whistling noise that I'd never heard come from my 250 before, and couldn't even figure out what it was. It didn't change with engine speed. Perhaps a coolant leak somewhere? But I didn't see any steam. I'm in traffic moving fairly slowly, and I keep listening for this noise, and start to feel the temptation to curse the car under my breath. Then the road opens up into two lanes and I come to a stop light. The late model Honda something-or-other that had been behind me for several blocks pulls up next to me. I continue to hear the noise, and when the light turns green, the Honda pulls away, and with it, the noise! Wasn't Greenie after all. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I sometimes get over-sensitive to noises and smells when driving Greenie, since we've only been together for a year and just under 1000 miles! Like the time I drove by a bbq restaurant right after changing my dizzie cap, roter and points, and thought for sure the smell was my dizzie melting down. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Fantastic picture of the Beartooth Pass from a TR. If you don't mind I will copy that picture and send it to a friend who is thinking about buying a TR.
I drove my TR to Ireland last weekend. I had a four hour drive across Scotland in the "driving" rain and then after a ferry crossing three glorious days on a rally. Maybe not as spectacular as Yellowstone, but some great roads ...

Hi Nick. Wife and I drove (in a rented Renault)around a few of the western counties in Ireland a few years ago. Absolutely beautiful. Your image didn't show up, please try again, I would like to see it.
I apologize for posting so many pictures of the Beartooth's, but I guess I am on a campaign to have the BCF get together in Montana.

Well it's 70 degrees here in Massachusetts this evening.....one of the last warm ones before winter...and I am firing up TR4A for a drive....think I will begin by following the route that the Minutemen marched from Acton to Concord to meet the Brits at the Old North Bridge....

took the 6 out for a nice ride in Guilford Ct today.

74 degrees and sunny!

I love the fall! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif

Haven't touched my daily driver since last Thursday. I estimate the TR6 has travelled about 600 miles through the rain and sunshine since. We must take advantage of the little time left in the driving season.
I've been fine tuning the carbs and timing in this time. The car has never seen a timing light and probably never will. (to much stubborn German blood) It's running better than it ever has. If the engine doesn't blow up in the next year, it should be running fantastic.
I hope everyone can have as much driving enjoyment before the snow flies as I have had in the past six days.

Mark,
I am having some trouble with the modern technology. Hopefully the picture is shown below. [image]

Through Concord Centre and out Monument Street, Rt 225 and back down Lowell Street? - one of my favourite runs. A stop at Kimballs Ice Cream stand on the way. Often do this loop in the 250 to blow out the cobwebs. There are some really nice roads round these parts, and with the fall leaves its just glorious.

See you out there Michael.

Rob.

Yesterday, I got in from the golf course about 3:00. Instead of blocking Ol Yeller in with the golf cart I decided to give it a little exercise. It was cool but sunny. I put on about 25 miles around a couple of lakes on some twisty little black top roads. She purred with the pleasure. All I could do is grin.
It's supposed to get up to almost 70 Sat. The color in the woods is beautiful and it seems like it's going to be a LBC day.

Another beautiful day in Wisconsin. About 60 deg and bright sun. Got out for about a 4 hr. drive. The fall color is past peak but it's still great to get out and drive seldom traveled roads. Put on over 50 miles before having to head to the house. We didn't have anything like the Beartooth Pass but still pretty nice.

Obviously, Mass is a big state, because it was no where near the 70 degrees that RobT had in Carver, MA today for the British Car Show. The wind was blowing hard all day off the water on the cranberry bogs and it never got above 50 with dark cloudy skies. IOW, it just sucked! I couldn't wait to get the TR6 good and hot and blast the heater all the way home.

Finally, I drove my Triumph today. My favorite wife has been canpaigning off and on since 1997 to get her car running, so I recently, since June, spend a lot of time on that. A number of weeks ago the overdrive went out on my car. So I took some time to repair it. I get looks and comments about "taking care of YOUR car but not MINE." As I'm working a new job (just got a promotion!) and trying to work on her Spitfire she says, "Boy, you looked stressed, may be it would be better to get your car back on the road." So, at long last The car is on the road. I drove in to town to pick up some bits and pieces and the car seemed to run well, and the overdrive did not quit. It was such a good day here. The temperature was may be mid to low nineties, nice breeze. The down side: As I pulled into the grocery store parking lot a guy recognized the car as a Triumph and said, "My dad had two of those." I guess it is better than being reminded that Grandfather had two of those. T.T.

70 degrees in the nations capital today after what seemed like a week of rain. Taking the 6 to the Waterford Festival in Virginia horse country today. Might even be able to talk the wife into running with the top down this morning. It's still a bit brisk.
