Well this eventually kind of counts,

Yesterday my sons Malibu would not start and I decided to take the 3 because it has all the tools anyone could possibly need in it. I started the 3 WITH OUT going through "the ritual" as previously discussed and it started right up. I backed it out of the garage and noticed the generator light would not go out. Since it was starting to get dark and I didn't want to have two stranded cars I pulled the 3 back into the garage. I got back an hour later, cleaned the contacts on the regulator, went through "the ritual", started fine, generator light went out as anticipated, and all is well. Just goes to show that you can't rush the old girl or she throws a fit. We then had a nice ride in the dark (headlights on and working!)on rte. 42 to town and back just to make sure all was good. There's nothing like the adrenaline rush of driving a 3 at night with the top down on a twisty road.

42 is my main get out and go loop road to 67 in Oxford to Rte. 63 & 10 in Cheshire. BTW - Who did you bribe, threaten, or otherwise know to get that marker plate? I thought with all the 6's around here I figured that plate would have been taken a long time ago.

I kinda lucked out when I got the car I put in a request for "TR.6, TRsix,& and 71 Tr, they returned with my TR6 plate 3 months later. They told me someone had the plate for 22 years and must of sold the car .........

I was shamed into driving my Spitfire to work, as when I was driving my son to school this morning (in my comfy warm SHO) I saw both a TR-6 and an MGB going the other way both top down. After dropping him off I went home and put on a hat and a flannel shirt and drove to work top down sun shining on me and it didn't really matter that it was only 60 out. I also washed my TR7 and put it back in the garage after leaving it outside for the past week as punishment for it's poor behavior of late.

Ha ha ha. I used to leave my 6 out overnight when she miss behaved! It didn't work. I now threaten her that my wife will drive her, its seems to work.

It could not have been a better day here on the West Coast of Canada to drive a Triumph - not a cloud in the sky, a slight ocean breeze and a temperature of 24C (about 76F). I took the car out for a run and it was great, came home my neighbour was weeding her front yard and gave me you know what for enjoying life. Life is great.
 
Well, since I started this thread, it's only fitting that I add another reply! I drove Greenie to work this morning. Hello from the Pacific Northwest. 48 deg on the way to work, and forecast 76 deg for the way home. Brisk with the top down this AM. Then there was the steam that started coming out from under the hood. The heater valve started to leak when it's in the heat posistion. I was lucky that placing it closed stopped the leak, so far. Hope the drive home is incident free.
Can those valves be rebuilt?
 
In my earlier post, I forgot one important part of the forecast -- the thunderstorm watch! So, Greenie and I got to share that age-old ritual, which we actually had yet to experience together. You know the one: "How fast can you pull over, remove the tonneau and get the top up on an English roadster in the pouring rain?" Turns out, pretty darn quick! I also got to confirm that my wipers still work, and that Clear Hooters switch is working fine after 38 years.

I've found that rain x at 60 MPH works better than the wipers. Still got wet. Put the top up, or half mile from home.. Tough choice. Went like H for the half mile.
 
Did a forty mile loop in the 3 to Woodbury this afternoon under mostly cloudy skies (rain later tonight). Had to drop my son off at the chevy dealership to pick up his now running 2003 Malibu with 53 days left on the warranty and counting. He asked me what the red light on the dash was for and a tutorial on generators versus alternators commenced. We had a great ride and he also found out what the panic bar on the passenger side is for. Not sure if it's the green color or if people just don't see it but they sure like to jump out in front of the 3 for some reason. The only difference in the 3 is you get to scream at them with the roof down and what's great is you know they can actually hear you.

Not since Sunday, but tomorrow, rain or shine, we're off to the Cape for British Legends Weekend. Three days of LBC nuts, all in one place talking about one thing, LBC's! Car cruisin' on the back roads of Cape Cod, on a cruise boat up and down the canal and lobster, lobster, lobster..

Even the gals are into it. My wife loves it. No dresses or special clothes. Baseball cap and a pony tail for her with sweatshirts and jeans and life is good again.

Not only do I drive my TR8 daily but I have been making quite a few improvements to it as of late. Most recently, I finished the suspension rebuild. Now, it is fully poly bushed, new ball joints, new tires, new higher rate springs, new shocks and uprated front and rear sway bars. HOLY COW! The sway bars are rated at a 34% increase and man what a difference. It corners as flat as my Stepdads Porsche 928 now and it doesn't have stock suspension either. Totally sweet! This Saturday my local club is making a Fall Color run up the Poudre Canyon. I can't wait! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I drove mine every workday this week! Low's in the 50's and 60's. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Highs in the 80's. Don't expect I will be able to drive it every day in a week too often.
