Who drove their Triumph today?

So what you want is top down, winter coat on, windows up, blanket on, with the heat on full speed. Lets see, my wife would say, roof on, side curtains on, heat on full, winter coat and hat or she no go. If I say top off. She say, you go by self then. I go by self, come home and get cold shoulder all week. Rather do top on top off later in day routine than get cold shoulder all week.

Good Luck and have fun!

When this post started, it had seemed to rain every day for two weeks in the Boston area. But since then I've driven the 6 to work 12 of the last 15 days.

Even though it was 37 out this morning, I decided I needed to drive the 6, especially since I've taken a job at a new company and today (notice the date-stamp?) was the last day of work at my old company (15 years).

Saw a friend at the coffee shop next to the train and he agreed a cold ride in the 6 was better than a warm ride on the commuter rail. Fifteen minutes later we had just gone thru the Allston/Brighton toll on the Mass Pike when I noted "Oooh, that clunk doesn't sound too good."

Pull over at the first breakdown lane available, lying on the ground looking under the rear-end while Geoffrey "wiggles" the rear-end.

Broken shock mount (yes, tube shock conversion. . .)

Limped it to the Pru and waited 2+ hours for AAA.

Happy Friday the 13th. . .

-Lee

ps - I'm still keeping the conversion. The ride is so much better than the levers IMHO.

I have been slowly taking the barn find TR4 further and further over the last week or so. I think that the tuning is nearly there, although I am getting some minor backfires on the overrun. Today we braved a local bypass and got up to warp speed 60MPH. That's pathetic considering how I used to drive them in the old country 30 years ago, but I am determined to be responsible in breaking in the new engine components.

It's amazing how far the handling of even the most mundane "grocery getter" has advanced since those days, but driving the 4 around twisty country roads brought back all the fun and sense of achievement at making it do what you want it to do, as opposed to what a modern car's systems will artificially let you do.

I look forward to getting back to the speeds that these cars should be driven at and surprising a few "boy racers" by pulling them into some tight bends that they may be uncomfortable at - (sound of evil laughter accelerating away into the distance).

Sorry to hear about your problem with the shocks. Now I won't even go into the garage tonight.

I took the opportunity to drive my TR again today, just so that I could add to the posts! It has been a lovely autumn day here in Scotland, still mild (for the time of year) and dry. The TR was going like a dream. I even managed to take a short video through the windscreen!

Another beautiful day in northern Colorado and had a photo seesion with my TR6 and another resto-mod TR6 that is nearing completion at one of the local LBC specialists.

Had a nice drive afterwards too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Markers for the RBRR (Round Britian Reliabilty Run), makes them 'official' entrants in the event. Club Triumph also does a Ten Country Run that I would love to go over and participate in at some point.

Ah well, what a great summer (and fall) of driving!

Drove it to Crystal Cove on Saturday, and all around
Laguna Beach on Sunday.
It was the final Crystal Cove event.

Ten country? I'd be happy to make a tri-state and just over the border of each is far enough for me. Anyway we went out both Saturday and Sunday. Top down 57-62 degree F. Took a while to warm up.

You would think it was minus 10 the way she dressed.

That's a good idea Kodanja, I'll save for new thread! To group; I edited and removed photo for future thread on cold wives who want us to sell our little british cars but continue to ride in them with twenty layers of clothes on. Oh, sorry I meant wives who overdress when riding in LBC's. I'll keep thinking about that one.

thats a great shot of your wife Harry.
My wife wears 1/2 her wardrobe when we go out in the cold!
We should start a thread "The cold women LBC's".....LOL !! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Some of those countries are pretty small (as in the larger countries being the same size or smaller than our medium sized states) and travelling between EU countries is pretty easy now without having to stop for immigration at border crossings on the continent. On one of my more 'memorable' drives on the east coast I drove from Norfolk VA to Natick MA in one day. That was eight states and the District of Columbia. I will admit though that most of those states were our smallest. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It seems that recent Colorado weather is making national news. Not sure why, it's just an early snow and not near what hit the Buffalo area recently. Anyway, Yesterday was truly a crappy weather day with mixed rain and snow until the sun went down and temps dropped enough for the snow to begin accumulating. Here is what it was like...

OH, and on a sunny day you would have been looking at mountains in that pic. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif But at least the sun is back out today. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
