Wedge TR8 Cooling Fan Help

This is a topic that no doubt has come up before, maybe not in this forum...

I just switched over to Edelbrock/Holley conversion sourced from Woody. Don't have a manifold temp switch anymore.

Before the conversion the fans were not right. Would not come on at all in "low speed" and only the passengers side fan would come on (and much later than I thought it should)at "high speed".

Now that the conversion is done and I'm trying to sort my fan problems out, I cleaned the fuse links, relays and fan wiring on the right side of the car. Now, when I touch the two wires from the manifold sensor together, only the drivers side fan comes on at high speed!

Two fuses control the fans, I can take the lower right one out with no impact, drivers fan runs on high speed with contacts touching. Taking the lower left fuse out, nothing will run.

Any thoughts on what else to check at this point? I've scoured the TR8 Mailing List archives for most of what I've done so far.

How do I wire the manifold sensor wires into the system (I know, talk to Woody /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

As an alternative (I know I really don't want to do this) but can the manifold sensor wires be wired to a switch I can toggle so I can at least drive this beast and enjoy my new conversion set-up? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

I had continual problems with my fans and the relays. I was never able to solve them so I did one of the things I do best, I simplified it. I did not like the idea of a switch out of fear I might go brain dead and forget to flip them on. I wired the car with a new fuse to a wire that was hot only when the car was running. I additionally swapped in a new aluminum Rad from Woody. I still have my old one, nothing wrong with it, but with the driving down in DC and the heat and Humidity, I thought it was worth it

The first TR8 I had about 5 years ago had a toggle switch, but since it worked fine, I never bothered to investigate the issue of why it was necessary. I suppose I could do what you did and wire a separate fuse-in off an ignition-on-when-hot wire, as it would appear (maybe one of multiple issues) that I have a problem with the lower right fan fuse in the fuse block.
