TR4/4A TR4 Homecoming -- the deal is done!

Well folks, I am now an official Little British Car Owner! I went out to Portland OR this past weekend and brought the car home. It was as the owner had described it. A strong runner, with good body and frame, bad interior. It's pretty complete, has a decent top as well. Needs new floorboards and sill work. The 2 inner and one of the outer sill replacement panels came with the car, as well as various gaskets and such. New interior panels are a must at some point, and it's missing the brace that goes from the dash to the floor--anyone know where to find one?

It's got an overdrive as well (not hooked up, but new wiring was run) which is nice. Hope to have that working in a few weeks. Looks like most of the wiring harness was replaced as well. Shocks are good, and it's got 5 new tires.

I'm quite happy, really. Rather in over my head as well, but I got this to be a learning experience, so I expected that. I can read manuals, and I'm not afraid to ask questions!

Here's a few photos my new friend:

Hopefully it will be road legal in a week or so. Needs a new windshield and wiper arm to pass inspection--my first of many parts purchases I'm sure.

Drew,
I heard it's a good omen when followed home by the Oscar Meyer Weiner mobile. Then top it off by being blessed by the duck fleet. Your a lock buddy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif.

Best of luck, it's a keeper.

Cool! Have fun!

You might look on eBay for the center bracket piece. Also, there is a fellow triumph enthusist, Joe Alexander who has frabricaed a few of the radio bracket pieces (just the top part, not the lower piece of the bracket). He sells them for $30 a piece (if he has any left). You can contact him at N197TR4@cs.com.

Not really. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The paint is good from about 30 feet out. The previous owner had stripped the car down, and did this paint just to protect the metal while she was finishing up the rest of the work. It's fine for now--we'll see if I ever try to do better. At least it's all the same color!

Kurtis--thanks for the tip on the radio brackets. I've got an email in to that fellow to see if he has any still available.

Spent some fun time last night starting the inventory, and trying to figure out where to begin, and what's missing. I'm sure I'll have many questions to come!

Drew, I might be able to help you out on that brace. However, I must ask for help from those here who know early TR4s better than I. The one I have is what I believe to be the early style, unpadded and finished in a sort of flat or nearly flat black crinckle paint.

Does that sound right to the rest of you TR4 folk? I can shoot a picture -- maybe over the weekend -- if it will help. This is just the lower part, NOT including that radio bracket mentioned by others (pretty sure I don't have one of those).

Yes, Andy, that is the correct part. And, you are correct, one of the radio or blank brackets is needed between the lower brace and the dash.
