Howdy all -- I'm about to reinstall my seats in the TR3 and was wondering which side the adjusting rail should be on? In other words, if I was sitting on the the driver and passenger side, would the adjusting rail be on either the left or right side? Thanks for any help.

The rails on my car have the adjuster handle toward the trans tunnel. In other words, the left (driver's seat) in on the right, and right (passenger seat) is on the left as sitting in the seats.

Were the original rails directly on top of the carpet? Mine were originally right on top of the carpet, and the seating position is very low. I'm 6'1" and can barely see over the steering wheel. I'm thinking of installing some sort of spacer arrangement to raise the seat. Any thoughts?

Palmer - some folks do add a spacer under the rail for exactly the reason you mention. Read the posts in the link in my first post above.

Mine are directly over the carpet as shown in the pic. I'm 5'9" and can see out just fine, it sounds to me like you have a problem with your seat cushions springs being worn/collapsed.

I think you may be right. The seats haven't had the original springs since I acquired the car. I guess it may be time for a seat rebuild.

I ride "tall in the saddle" so I had someone make me an extra thin seat cushion. It works for me and I can pop in the original for average sized drivers.
This is what I like about TR3 technology: it is simple and adaptable.
