TR2/3/3A TR-3A front brake rotors size

Hi,All
I am interested in changing my front brake rotors on my 1959 Triumph TR-3A Comm. TS56176. It came with 11" diameter front rotors and grilling calipers.

Can I use the 10.75"diameter rotors in their place or do I need to change the calipers too?

So, why do you want to downgrade your front brakes?

I've not tried it myself, but I've heard that if you don't change the calipers & mounts, the pads will hang off the edge of the rotors and eventually meet in the middle.

Note that the correct rotors are readily available from TRF, and even on sale at the moment.

I'm thinking its not that simple. Pretty sure I checked that possibility before getting new rotors for my '59. Any particular reason for the change?

I reason I was considering the 10.75" size brake rotors was because I could get a good deal on them. One of my existing 11" rotors is warped some what. I was getting a hard time about getting it cut and just how much can be taken off.

Does anyone know just how much can be taken off one of these rotors before its junk?

ISTR the book says to remove no more than .060". But I've seen people run them with more like .250" gone, and get away with it. Of course, some folks have brakes that don't work very well too

I just bough new TR4a (later) style rotors and the price difference that I saw between those and correct TR3 rotors wasn't, in my opinion, worth messing around with. YMMV!
