Kathy and I drove our Spitfires, with our friends Betsy and Marie driving a Volvo and Sprite, to Prescott Arizona for the Southewest Unique Litttle Car Show. Originally the cars were under ten feet long or engines under one liter. Over the years those requirements have been "adjusted" by the various organizers to mean small uncommon cars- hence our Spitfires and the Sprite (the Volvo was a support vehicle). There were still unque little cars, Subaru 360, Isetta, Gogomobil, Bantam, Fiat, Metropolitan, Morris Minor "lowlight" and Crosley. We swept the Spitfire class. For me the outstanding car was a Gogomobil Dart. Built in Autralia from Gogomobil engine, chassis and trim parts. I was told the the windscreen was the rear window of a Renault Dauphine. The car looks a lot like one of the "Autopia"? cars from Disneyland- not much bigger. Other folks were impressed with the Austin Seven- the seven horsepowere from the twenties, i think. It was a fun weekend of strange cars. The Spitfires ran well up and down the big hills. Kathy's Spitfire, known as Tillie, pulled Yarnell hill in fourth gear overdrive.
