s2000 powered midget

Hi, I found this the other day and thought it might interest a few here. track day toy from the UK, s2000 powered with miata suspension. Im not a big fan of the hood bulge but im sure it was needed for the very tall honda engine. The listing is expired and he was trying to sell it for over $24000 US! It seems that people in the UK see the spridget as a viable alternative to the caterhams and other kit cars that are so popular over there when modified.

The one piece fiberglass bonnet with the flares look really good, They could have done a better job on the bulge by putting an opening in the front to give the impression of ram air (Firebird T/A)and rounded the edges. Then with those wide flares on the rear, side exhaust would have looked great

I like the front flares, i think the rears would look better if they matched the fronts. i think the bulge would look better with softer edges, not so angular. i like the idea of side exhaust though. that can solve a ground clearance problem if your doing an engine swap and are running larger diameter exhaust.

used a little hp per ton calculator to come up with this. it takes no consideration for aerodynamics but i bet it isn't far off. link to the calculator. its fun to play with.

If you google bugeye and click on images, you'll see a 1959 bugeye, blue, with the S2000 running gear.
The nicest thing is no hood bulge.
Take a look, it is very well done.

I have seen that bugeye Dave, great looking car! i dont know how they did it. even with a dry sump it would be hard because of the bellhousing diameter. I would love to see more pictures of that swap. Im doing a duratec 2.0 swap and the engine has to sit really far back in the car to fit with no hood bulge. im also using a shorter sump. Im pretty sure the honda engine is taller than the duratec.

I am pretty sure the S2000 engine isn't all that high.
And the bellhousing isn't real huge either.
It has been about three years since I left the dealership, and my mind is old and foggy. Having said that, it is slid back as far as it will go.
Would be a hoot to see it in person don't ya think!
