Can anyone recommend replacement horns for our MG's? The male fittings, one on each horn, have broken off and I can not for the life of me, find anything to secure them back on. Soldering won't work with the brass body.
I have been watching eBay for good used horns for my Spitfire project. I've been extremely disappointed with the prices for the used parts. On a recent outing to Advance Auto I noticed that they have FIAM horns in both high and low tones for something around $12 to $15 each. I'm giving serious thought to buying a matched set of those and making or modifying brackets as necessary. However, originality is not paramount for the work I'm doing on the Spit.
For our B, I bought a couple of horns from Auto Zone - right off the pegboard display, but don't remember the brand. One high tone, one low. Easy to bolt on, and LOUD!
If you are the junkyard browsing type, you could always get a set our of a Jag or something else British. I replaced mine with a pair from a Jensen Healey. They worked just fine, and are Lucas to boot. I think I paid $5 for the pair. I don't imagine that new ones would cost very much either. New ones would also make certain that they work.
I will take a look around at British Car Day down in Bronte. Don't remember seeing any there the last couple years but then again, I really wasn't looking. I just need to make sure the male connectors are still well adhered to them. And, I don't really have the need to hit the junk yards since I got rid of #1 Son's Jetta. Thanks all.
A 71 had brass horns? New to me! Could someone explain this? Cast aluminum as far as I know. Also the original horns can be taken apart and rebuilt. I've done it!

Where the male connectors are. The body is brass the male tabs are not. I have been unable to adhere them back onto the horn so I get a connection. Solder only holds for a short time and they break off again.
