Re-chrome within 120 mi. Piedmont Triad NC area?

My American style luggage rack on my 67 BJ8 needs a rechrome. Doesn't need to be a concourse job, this is a driver car-but I want it to look really good for the street. Chrome-Rite in Fayetteville, NC is not accepting any more jobs until some major renovations are completed, and Glenn (owner) said "I don't know when that will be".
I've searched this Forum and can find nothing recent within driving distance of me. I won't ship the thing!
Any recommendations/help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know how far you want to drive, but when we lived in South Carolina, the wife and I used to stop on occasion, at the Petro truck stop in Florance SC on 95 for breakfast and just past the truck stop heading south was a chrome shop which did a lot of chroming on truck accessories. I think you have to get off of 95 at the truck stop and use frontage road to the chrome shop. PJ

You should ask your local LBC clubs if they have someone local. The Triad Healey club are some nice guys. It doesn't hurt to go to a local cruise night and ask the hot rod/muscle car guys, too.

Hanlon Plating in Richmond (229 miles one way...) does a great job. Jeff drives up to DC for pickups. You could ask if he drives south, too.

There is as shop called "its finished" in Indian trail N.C. (just on the east side of Charlotte.) 704-882-6152. I had a front bumper rechromed on a MGB. The top surface was great but the vertical surface felt like it had bumps. Price was good. I probably should have taken it back to see what the owner would do about it but did not want the hastle. I would go back but check the complete part before leaving the shop. Bob

I have used "It's Finished" also. Price was very good and the plating service is fine.....although not what I would consider concourse quality, and they lost a dash switch bezel that I had a heck of a time finding a replacement for.

Thanks folks! I went with "Its Finished" in Charlotte. The rack turned out quite nice and the price was reasonable ($200) imho. Turnaround time was 4 weeks and within the time quoted. They do the three step process-copper,nickel, chrome once the part is stripped and buffed out. Your base metal needs to be in good shape as I don't think they do much in the way of bare metal repair. My rack was in good shape, so I really did not discuss this much with them. The little "cups" that the 4 rack post sit on also turned out very nice, and they were rough to begin with!
At any rate, it was a very nice job (but not concourse), which is exactly what I wanted.
