Chrome Wire Wheels

Question for all - I have 72 spoke painted wire wheels on my Blue/White 100 Six. I'm quite fond of the chromed versions and want to make the switch. Preferences and experiences with Daytons, Dunlops, others? The Daytons supposedly do not need adjusting? Has anyone found this to be true or marketing hype? Fit/finish consistent and acceptable? Anyone know of a reputable source?

Dunlops have a rather scary "Supplemental" on Moss: https://www.mossmotors.com/graphics/products/PDF/980-222.pdf Not that it's so tough to call around to have these correctly mounted, but if the Daytons are truly maintenance free, perhaps a reason to go with those? Sourcing these from Moss also looks incredibly expensive. Hoping to find a cheaper alternative, but I think my options are limited.

Anyone want a set of painted wires when I get these chromes?!

That document you linked from Moss is just describing how center-mount splined wheels need to be balanced. That method would need to be used for any wheels that you choose to buy. If you choose to go with Allen Hendrix, I assume he uses a similar methodology.

There are a bunch of us here who have had Allen set up our wheel and tire combos. In addition to correctly mounting and balancing them, he also shaves the tires for roundness. He'll also balance your rear brake drums, which I'm convinced is a major part of eliminating "scuttle shake." It made a huge difference in my car and when it's time for new tires on my Healey, the wheels are going back to Hendrix Wire Wheels.

I bought a set of Dayton 60 spoke chrome wires for my 100 in 1999 and Allen has always sold me tires and maintained the wheels as necessary since then. Most recently he installed a set of Michelin XAS 180's which I bought at Coker anbd had drop-shipped to him. He did his usual excellent job in mounting and balancing them.

I cannot say enough good things about HWW--Allen is an easy guy to work with and you'd do well to put yourself in his hands. BTW he does more than simply install tires and wheels....

I fitted Dunlop 60 spoke chromed wire wheels to my 100 about eight years ago. My wife commented immediately how smooth the car felt on the highway! Since then I have done several interstate drives to National meets, as far away as Adelaide (about three thousand mile round trip). The wheels look as good today as the day I fitted them and have never needed adjustment. I chose these wheels for two reasons. One, they were $100 each less than Daytons & two, I had fitted an Indian made Dunlop (48 spoke, painted) some years earlier and it stood up well to use. Regarding price, I would assume the Dayton would be more competitive in their home market.
