For a '66 TR4a with Toyota calipers? I put the new Toyota calipers on the existing rotors, and am now tired of the pulsing pedal from the rotors being warped.

I believe I need to order the TR6 rotor, yes?

I am sure you have a reason, but, have you thought about turning down the rotors, machining, that is!
Although my guess is that new rotors are almost as cheap as the machine work.

Hi Robert - yes, am assuming the existing rotors are toast. Probably worth checking but my standard MO is to just replace since finding time to wrench is pretty hard these days.

ISTR in one of Kastner's books the owner used mid-80s Toyota Cressida rotors.

Is there a difference between TR4A and TR6 rotors? I don't think there is a difference. Also there are a lot of performance rotors made for the TR4A / TR6 applications. I'm running a Brembro slotted and drilled pair on my 4A

As long as the Toyota calipers you are using call for non-vented rotors, stock TR or, as mentioned above, any of the performance rotors will work fine.

I have drilled rotors on my TR3 with Toyota calipers. The drilled and/or slotted is more of a bling factor then any advantage you may gain in street driving. So if cost is a factor, stick with stock. What I have noticed with my drilled rotors is that when I step on the brakes, they make a curious, almost whistling noise.

I thought the rotors were all the same from the 3B to the 6. The Cressida reference is if you wish to go to vented rotors and which requires the Cressida calipers.

Early TR3B and early TR4 used the larger rotors with the stock calipers. But ISTR you need the smaller rotors (or cut down the originals slightly) for the Toy calipers anyway. The difference in rotors is only about 1/8" in radius, all the other dimensions are identical (meaning late rotors will fit early hubs & vice versa).

Hi Tom
The TR6 rotors work with the 1980s Toyota Truck caliper, if that's what you're using. The TR3 (and maybe TR4) rotors are just slightly larger in diameter than the TR6. I fit the TR6 rotors to my TR3 when I did the Toyota caliper upgrade.

OK. Randall and others have said there are 10 3/4 and 11 inch rotors. The 11 inch rotors are for the "A" & "B" Calipers. I just wasn't sure which was right for the Toyota Calipers on an early TR4a.

She'll be a standard road car so I think standard non-vented or slotted rotors are fine. I'll just have to make my own strange whistling noise Art.

Thanks guys!
