Plastic fans

I have a yellow plastic 8 blade fan but I see that some (but not all) of the usual sources now offer a blue plastic fan. Does anyone know if the two fans are the same? For aesthetic reasons I'd rather have the blue one.

TIA,

Cliff

I think the original fan was a 4 bladed aluminum fan. At least that's what was on my car when I got it in 1980. Mine has an 8 bladed yellow plastic fan from a TR6 that I put on there to move more air. I have never seen a blue one. I have seen red and white as well as the yellow. So if you are asking for originality, you are probably not original anyway with a plastic fan on a 4A.

There's always plastic paint. Much le$$ than a new fan and it holds up really well.

Hah -- I just got it... "TR4eh".

Since the blue flavor may be a fairly recent development you may need to ask a vendor if they are the same as the usual yellow variety.

As noted, plastic paint works well. I used a black-painted yellow fan for awhile until I found a correct (albeit optional) tropical fan.

Moving more air is good.

Welcome by the way and always glad to see another Royal Blue TR4A around (my favorite color on that car and yes I'm biased!).

Keep looking. I found one on ebay but they're never inexpensive, usually over $100 unrestored.

Sem Color Coat Aerosol # 15643 is a Pacific Blue for plastics and also used for carpet color changes. Great stuff, make sure to clean the surface very well.

There is also A SEM pre-paint for plastics. More of a cleaner/conditioner, not a primer per se.

Hello TR4eh,
Last year I ordered and received a blue plastic TR6 fan that I am using on my TR3A - with and adapter from Rimmer Bros.
Check the link below.

https://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-308353

During my rebuild I salvaged a white plastic 6 blade fan from one of the donor TR3's. Each of the blades is fastened to the hub by 3 rivets. Does anyone know the origin of this fan?
