I have a 76 Midget that I was driving for daily driver... but during a rebuild due to smoke coming from exhaust... during the rebuild my Micro-torque wrench went bad and I overtorqued most of the engine bolts. I am in the process of a re-re-build so I can drive it.

As the weather warms up, my 79 Midget is becoming more of a daily driver. In recent weeks, I've been driving the MG about 50% of the time. That will only increase as I fix things.

I am driving my 74 probably at least 75% to 80% of the time now to work and back. Great weather in Albuquerque for it, top down, etc. Very pleasant!

Hint from this week's driving: do not fill the gas to the very top on a cool morning, and then leave the car out in the hot sun shortly thereafter, as you may have a "pool of petrol" exiting the filler tube as the car is heated by the sun.

Happy driving!

When I was in college I drove my B very often, sometimes daily. However, now that I'm out and have a job that is about 40 miles away, I don't drive it daily.

I do still manage to drive it 2 or 3 times a week.

If you've never driven your car daily or haven't in a while, it may develop some problems at first. Don't be discouraged though. When I started using my B regularly I noticed a few things that needed attention. Once I got those tended to, it was very reliable and still is to this day.

I've been driving my TD (replica) every day to work, the store, and any other excuse I can find. I've also driven the MGB a few times when I was putting a new interior in the TD.

Kmcormick9 look on Hull street at about 7:30 most mornings if you can and wave at the green 79 Midget driving from Deer Run towards Turner. Hope to see you around the Richmond area. Weather hasw been great for the last week or so and I hope it holds up as I intend to drive it every day that isn't a deluge. VA has the greatest weather and roads for the LBC's

I have driven my 68 Spitfire nearly every day since I bought it nearly two years ago. Last fall I drove it from northwestern MT to central MN in less than 24 hours. In Feb. I drove it back to MT.

Both trips were made with only one minor incident of my own making when I broke an oil line while tightening the starter bolts.

In my humble opinion, backed up by personal experience, the bad rap that LBC's get as undependible is totally groundless. These cars are great daily drivers if properly maintained, and it is a lot of fun to see the looks on peoples faces as you drive by.

I am still in the wishing for it to be a daily driver mode. Mother nature is a fickle creature, today is a balmy -5 degrees C, and yesterday it snowed all day. On the more positive side, if we ever get summer up here this year, my car is ready to go, and I will use it for my commute to the airport.
