Lucas Horns

One of the two horns on my BN2 was not functioning, so we removed it only to discover that the dissection, repair and reassembly of these items is not completely straight forward. We also obtained some "parts horns" that are shown in the photo:

My question is, who is a good source of repaired horns? As you see, we have several "cores" and I'd like a perfect pair for my BN2.

Suggestions? Your experiences?

Hi Reid, there is an original Lucas manual here https://www.ahcso.com/pdf/k_4_horns_hf1746_47_48.pdf with very good instructions on how to make em work. The only difficulty is getting the points cleaned and set which is really a matter of putting some ear muffs on and twiddling the screw with it hooked to a battery till it sounds good.

The face-ring screws corrode into the housing like crazy too so apply gentle heat if you haven't got it apart yet or they'll snap off.

Thanks Andy, but I am looking for someone who does this (rebuilds/repairs Lucas horns). I already stay far too busy to consider learning a new trade on top of everything else.

I agree with Andy, it is not that difficult.
Maybe one of the forummembers nearby can be of any help
Looking at the parts it should work out oké

Checking can be done with a normal Voltmeter
Making contact will be visible without the noise

Hi Reid. Lawrie Rhoads is the best on horns and wiper motors there is. I have used him alot and his work is always better than new.. Wheelguy (Allen Hendrix)
