Hello all,
Been a while since I posted last. Sorry for neglecting the forum. New job at work prevented me from having time to look at the internet. Anyway excuses, excuses... nice to see some familiar faces as well as lots of new ones. I'm in the middle of a Weber conversion on my '76 (gave up trying to tame the ZS) and thought while I was waiting on gaskets (Advance Auto says "they must have lost them") I would exchange the fluid in my shocks. I had some enerpac oil laying about and I remembered PeterC mentioning once that we should use hydraulic oil. So I replaced the oil in the rear levers. I managed to work the air out without too much pain and put a lot more oil in than came out. Here's the hitch. After the fact, I did a little research and figured out that enerpac oil is pretty much ISO 32 hydraulic oil and PeterC said to use 20W. 20W is closer to ISO 68. The shocks move pretty good and offer a bit more resistance than before but I'm wondering if I should cut my loses now while the car is in the air and seek out some ISO 68 hydraulic fluid. I'm sure I can get some from Tractor Supply.
