HAZARD LIGHTS Help please

Ok I am investigating my hazards lights, they have never worked. I am using the wiring diagram here wiring diagram The two brown wires on the solenoid switch #4 should both have power all the time correct?

On the solenoid switch in my car the terminal to the key (brown wire) has power all the time. The Other brown wire (to the hazard switch in the console) at the solenoid does not. The solenoid has one lug coming off the power post while the other brown wire is coming off a lug directly opposite the red white wire that goes to the ignition key switch.

When I ran a jumper from the ignition brown to the hazard switch they work.

So two and a half questions,, is the solenoid the right one,, does it matter, can I just jumper the wire to make it work?

OK, what I hear you say is that one brown wire comes off the power solenoid lug while the other comes off the other lug (to the starter)

Both should be on the same (power lug) so that yes, they have power all the time. If you jumper it (as I think you describe), you will engage the starter

Please clarify if I'm not understanding you correctly

soryy Jp,, so the solenoid has a male spade at the positive post, a large brown wire goes from there to the ignition switch in the column. The other large brown wire on the solenoid does not come off the positive post. There is a male spade between the positive and negative post, directly opposite to the red white wire. There is no power at this male spade.

Under the dash I unplugged the single lucas connector leading to the ignition switch and put a short single to double female, There I reconnected the ignition brown and added a new brown to the hazard switch. BINGO. everything works ass it should.

SO it is fixed but why is the brown wire on the solenoid incorrect?

I think you might have a later solenoid. Just went to look at mine, and, I have the 2 big wires off the lugs - one starter/ one battery

1. spade - all the brown wires (battery side so always powered)
2. red/white to starter
3. white/ light green to coil. I think this is the one yours doesn't have, and, looking at your schematic doesn't seem to need.

So, while it works as is, I think if you move the brown wire and disregard the other spade you'll be fine
