Great loss to our community

When I called to order parts from British Car Specialist this morning, I was informed of the passing of Norman Nock. This is a great loss as Norman was a true gentleman and always had time to help and answer questions in a way that could be understood. I attended many road trips he attended and will miss him and his red Healey.
To Dave and his family, please know that Lynn and my thoughts and prayers are with you.
TH aka Rich Kahn

(As his business and knowledge was not solely Healey, this should probably be passed on to the other forums.)

I agree with Rich that we all have lost a true gentleman with the passing of
Norman Nock. I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person living on
the east coast, but whenever I called out to BCS and got him on the phone,
it was like speaking to an old friend. I still go over his Tech manual of
reprints and it's been like a bible of Healey information. I had it out
last night and still look at fondness with his "Happy Healeying from
Norman Nock" signature on the front. He will be missed. Our prayers
are with David and his family.
Warmest regards,
Mike Lewis

So sad to hear of Norm passing. He was a true friend to all British car owners. His knowledge, and willing to share, of Austin Healeys will definetly be missed. :grouphug:

I'll always remember the way he answered the phone at work with a simple "British cars" in that delightful Scottish brogue.

Pretty much said it all.

I always cherished his Tech Manual with his "Happy Healeying" signature like it was signed by Donald himself. I am thankful that he was so dedicated to putting the details in print and remindful of his updates.

Locals like Wings, TH and myself are lucky to have meet Norm in person. It's true, he rode his bicycle to work everyday. I enjoyed talking to him and his easy way about him. He will be missed. My best wishes to his family and friends.

Count me in that list. I met him at some club activities, including runs and, IIRC, at his shop. It was reassuring having him along on my early forays--you knew you wouldn't get stranded.

My dad drove up to Stockton (from Modesto) a few times to buy parts for our 100 and talked quite a bit about him--a couple 'old-timers,' almost the same age and with a lot in common.

I also was privileged to cross paths with Mr. Nock,
through the years he was my ACE in the hole, for all things "practical"

Dang! I bought his book about two years back; it sure helped me solve an oil pressure problem. When it's time for me to go, I'd sure like to be able to have left a legacy like he has.

I would like to thank everyone for the support, cards, letters and many e mails that we have received in the last 2 weeks. It is really nice to hear how my father was such a special person to so many people.

His goal was to keep as many of these LBC's on the road, and thru many of you in the Healey world he did just that.

Thank You

I thought about Norm just the other day. My wife bought me his book for father's day last year and Norm signed it. What a wealth of information. Norm seemed to love to talk to those who took the time to read and understand what he wrote. I just had to meet him so on my way to Santa Cruse to have my wheels trued I stopped in to meet the man. I told Norm about my OD hanging-up and he suggested removing a rod with a small oil orifice and check it for blockage. Just before I put the tunnel back on last week I thought I would give it a try. Couldn't see any blockage but I cleaned it anyway. Yippee Shifts nice and firm thanks to Norm's suggestion. My best friend died 20 years ago. He and I shared a special bond with engineering and mechanical stuff. Before he died he told me to be on the look-out for the not so obvious mechanical happenings as this could be his way of communicating. I hope Norm continues his helping ways and I for one will be on the LOOK-OUT.
