Door lock plate question?

This is probably something I should be able to figure out but, what is the best way to locate the door lock plate on a newly installed door shut panel? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

HI nascarcharlie, Move the lock plate in or out until the door and fender lines matchup.---Fwiw---Keoke
