I think all the Royal Purple products are great because they lubricate better than oil of yester year BUT the composition of seals, gaskets and retainers as well as the design of these devises made in the "old days" are not the same as the new high tech products of today. I don't think our old cars can take advantage of todays improved products with out modifications. It's not just Royal Purple but synthetic oils in general that seem to leak more than the non synthetic oils. If you don't mind a little more oil leaks, go for it; you may be one of the few lucky ones that has no problems.

Should be fine, IMO. I use Valvoline full synthetic gear oil in all my Triumph differentials, and it doesn't leak any worse than dinosaur juice for me. I also credit it with making my TR3A diff hold up so long (over 100,000 miles since I bought the car & well-worn then).

All of the castrol products I saw in the stores are all GL-5. This was the only one that I could find that was GL-4.

I think I am going to give it a try. I will let you know if I have any issues.

I used synthetic in the rear gear of TS 74011 L without any problems. BTW...That IS a GL-5 lube but it should be fine for use in the rear axle.

True that is a GL-5 lube, but it does have this note on it.

I used nothing but Royal Purple in the tranny and the diff on the Spit racecar, and never had a leak or a problem. Good stuff, in my estimation.
