A little pearl in a straight color paint ?

I will be painting my 69 TR6 tomorrow. I am going to use PPG
paint in as near a stock dark blue as they have. The paint is going to be just a straight color, no clear coat.
Has anyone added a little pearl to their paint to brighten it up but not enough to look like a metallic paint.

Tred,
I can't offer any advice on the pearl option but would like to hear more about your paint project. I too will soon be repainting my six and was going to go with a single stage royal blue which is pretty dark. Which PPG product are you using and are you also using their primer?

You're further along than I am. But last summer I did speak with the people that I intend using to paint my car about using pearl. They acted like it was no problem but suggested that I have them shoot a few samples with different concentrations of pearl to see what looked best. They also intended to apply a color base and clear top, FWIW.

Well I skipped the pearl and painted about 1/3 of the car.
The color is PPG Concepts single stage. I tried to get the stock color but PPG doesn't mix the stock color any more, so I got whats called nightwatch blue, it is a lighter color.
It is a odd looking paint, it is real dark in low light and then gets lighter in color in brighter light.
It has what I would call a candy look to the paint and a lot of shine. I attached a picture.

yes, the royal blue is the darkest, sapphire blue is next followed by delft.

I built the car for drag racing, but I would like to do some autocrossing also, I no it won't work to well but should still be fun.
A trip to a road course would be awesome but I don't know if I want to try going around corners at the speeds my car should run.
