sent my master cylinder into the machine shop for a new stainless sleeve, but found that this was one of the ones which had been california rebuilt at +.030" (.780" total diameter). i am having it resleeved at .750", of course, since the new bores should never rust and the rebuild kits are readily available in that size...
however, the pistons in the master are both .774" diameter, when (for the .750" bore) they need to be about .747 - .748 or so... although it's an easy job to turn the outer diameter to the correct size, i understand that the groove at the rear seal is critical... both in it's width and in the diameter of the shaft in the center. so far, im having no luck whatsoever coming up with the pertinent dimensions.
anyone out there have one (or a pair) of these old .750" pistons, either for sale or to take dimensions off of?? the master is due back in a couple of days, so im hot to get the pistons (or have the machine work done) so that i'll be able to drive the car.
i can be reached via this forum, by regular email (craig_assc@hotmail.com) or by telephone (253-297-5788)
