Spitfire 1980 Spitfire Coil Spring Replacement

Hello,
I am replacing all the shocks, so I figured I would replace the original coil springs at the same time. The new ones are one inch shorter than the originals and a spacer kit with 2 sets of 1/2" spacers included.

My question is on the pros and cons of lowering the front by 1" or 1/2" or use all the spacers to restore to original height.

Thank you in advance for feedback.

I autocross my 78 Spit. I have cut down GT6 springs that lower the front about and inch. I also lowered the rear by 3/4 inch. The lower center of gravity gives a definite improvement in handling. I think the looks are improved too. The cons would be reduced ground clearance so you have to be careful going over speed bumps and steep driveways, and getting a jack under the car can be difficult. I also have TR7 alloy wheels and I've noticed some contact between the wheel rim and the upper A arm if I crank the wheel all the way in reverse. Triumph guru Kas Kastner recommends a height of 3" at the front crossmember in the Spitfire Competition Preparation Manual. YMMV, it depends on how you want to use the car.

Thank you Eric. This is just a drive around town and trips with top down type of car. No racing and not a show car by any stretch of the imagine. Just fun to drive to the local brewery! (Long Trail)
