"Head Method" for trunk use

When I want to close my trunk (boot?), I have to pull the right support toward me with my right hand, the left support toward me with my left hand, while pushing up on the inside of the trunk lid with my head. Is there a simpler way to do this that I'm missing?

Re: "Head Method" for trunk use

Somthing is obviouly wrong as it should only take a moderate down pressure to close the trunk. I would suspect a couple of things that may be wrong.# 1. Are the pins, " the one that limit travel" in the arms missing or bent. These stop the arms from going past the point of recovering. # 2 concerns the springs.Check that the springs weren't altered and there is just too much tension. There are a couple of mounting holes for them and maybe they are in a too tight position. This would be obvious when opening the trunk. One usually puts the springs to a tighter position when the trunk will shut with out much assistance. Like when it closes on you head by itself.
I would definitly think it is in the locking arms. Look at them carefully regarding if all is perfectly straight and pins are not bent or missing. This is a straight forward operating mechanism and should not be causing this problem.

Thanks for the information. My springs are missing, so I'll look for some replacements.

No springs would do it. Surprising you didn't get banged on the head when you were looking for somthing in the trunk,
