Can anyone tell me what this connector (driver's side, under the hood, near the fuse box) is for? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Everything seems to be connected and running, but I still have this thing with nothing plugged into it.

Thanks

Is it on the side of the fuse box toward you or on the side near the front? Can you give me any more specifics?

The wires should go to the hazard flasher unit just forward of the connector. Can't tell you what the connector was for unless it was an adapter to an aftermarket flasher.
Your flasher unit base looks to need a good cleaning and the proper flasher installed. It does prove though that one can stick a round peg into a square hole.

Thanks to all for responding:

Kevin - it's just in front of the fuse box. Those are the fuse box wires on the left side of the pic and, as Doug noticed, you can just barely see the round flasher shoved in the square bracket on the right side.

Doug - I haven't done anything with the flasher unit because the round one works. Well, after adding a rocker switch in my dash with the help of Dan Masters it works. It hasn't bubbled up to the top of the list of things to do yet. There are already wires going to the flasher that seem to belong there.

Don - yes, it's non overdrive.

Hey Andy
According to Dan Masters' diagram legend, the connector is a "four-way power connector block, used only on the '69-71 TR6." Again, according to the wiring diagram there should be a single brown and red wire coming in on one side from the alternator, and two brown wires exiting the other side, one going to the fuse box and the other going to the starter. That's going off of the diagram, not looking at my own '71. It looks like your arrangement is a little different, but three wires are still present so it may be serving the same purpose. See how it checks out. Good luck.
