What kind of grease do I need for wiper motor?

I am in the process of rebuilding my Bugeye wiper motor/assembly and am just about ready to put things together. My manual does not say what kind of grease to use on the wiper gear part because it states the grease from the factory is sufficient for its lifetime. Is all purpose grease sufficient, or do I need something special? Your help would greatly be appreciated,
Kevin

White lithium works very well. Anything too thick will cause the wipers to move slow and strain the motor. Use the lithium on the wiper rack too.
Don't forget to oil the wheel boxes also.
Once you regrease the wiper system, you will be amazed at how well they work, like when they were new.

Photo was of an NOS wiper. The grease in there is super thick Agree with Frank about white lithium.

Got it. I kind of wondered about the thickness being a problem. Ray, I also got the wire and long screw today. Thanks again for all your help. Still working on the painting today. The black crinkle is powder coated, but the silver is standard paint. Might have to let it dry real good first before I put everything back together all the way.

Though some people turn up their noses at this... I use Vaseline as it is thin but does provide a lubricant layer. A friend of mine says that RedLine makes a nice, thin red grease that he uses. If Vaseline scares you, look for the RedLine grease.

For the wheel boxes... I take a plastic "caplug" and cut a hole in its bottom. I push that down over the shaft of the wheel box, then fill the inside of the caplug with 30W motor oil. The oil will slowly soak down the shaft to lube the bearings. Afterwards, I smear Vaseline around the splines to the wheel box body to help keep rain from washing away the 30W oil.

Of course if you have the wheel boxes off the car you could just submerge them in oil over night. That would be much easier.
