Weekend discovery

This technique is probably old news to most of you, but I pulled out my vibratory polisher that I use for brass cleaning and replaced the media with one suitable for small steel and aluminum parts. I can't believe how good this thing works to remove light rust and polish parts! I clean the dirt and grease before putting them in the media and they look like new 12 to 18 hours later. I've tried to stay away from the wire wheel to keep from removing the zinc coating and this does the best job of anything I've tried.

It's just a Hornady brand unit that I use when I reload. I think I paid about $55 new a few years ago from a local store. I normally use corn cob media with a brass polish and for this application I'm using walnut shells with a red rouge media. It cuts pretty slowly, but I had a couple of gallons on hand.

Walnut shells are great for that, didn't think to put my car parts in tho - good tip!!
