Upholstery on Sale?

I see that Moss has all their upholstery on sale right now,
until June 4th.

Has anyone bought and installed their seat kits recently? How was the quality, the fit and finish?

At about $175 per seat I'm very tempted to try it myself.
Doesn't appear all that hard to do and is certainly way less expensive than a local auto upholstery shop quotes me.

Any thoughts?

i tried putting new upholstery on wife's mustang several years ago. it turned out ok, but the next time i wanted a better job (i was unsatisfied with my work) and i paid a mobile upholstery guy to come out and install new kits i purchased and it turned out much better. it all depends on your level of skill.

Installing upholstry is very easy. They usually come with an instruction sheet and use the other seat as a guide. There is also a booklet produced by Victoria British showing how to do it, which I have seen posted online.

Yep. Job is intimidating, until you get into it. Just take your time, and pay attention to the details.

Best tip is to use plastic wrap from the dry cleaners to make the job of slipping the covers over the seat back foam a bit easier. Seat bottoms are not much of an issue.

I did both the MGB (leather) and the TR8 (vinyl/cloth) seats, and they came out fine. Actually, it's a very rewarding job, compared to some of the other chores in restorations.

I got kit from TRF, looked at it for a couple weeks, found oldest guy in town, he asked me TR2, 3,4 or 6. Find him in your town.Pay him for knowledge and let him do the work.

Like almost everything with these cars, you can re-do upholstery yourself..........it all depends on how soon you need it done, how many times you want (or need) to RE-DO it,and how much you really want to do it yourself. The seats of a TR3 are a large focus when you look at the car and need to look right. Whether you decide to go it alone or have someone else do it, be sure to check the condition of your spring sets and replace all the padding and inside covering with new.
