I know several of you have purchased interiors from John Skinner and have spoken highly of them. I live about 20 miles from there workshops and as I was in need of some replacement carpet material I decided to give them a visit. They used to be in Cirencester but everything is now located at their Cheltenham facility. I had a good look around their operations and got to look at their huge choice of hides. They have several grades and many more colours than were used on Healeys.
They supply a couple of companies in the States and in particular they supply Moss with BJ8 interiors as Moss don't have the tooling for them.
I had a look at their dark blue hides as I have always thought AH Spares dark blue isn't dark enough. Nothing against AH Spares and I use them a lot, I also have bought leather seats from them and they were very good. Interestingly Skinners have two dark blues available for Healeys. One is referred to as 'AH Blue' and the other simply as 'Dark Blue. Strangely the AH Blue is even lighter than the AH Spares version, whilst the Dark Blue is slightly darker and will be the one I go for if and when I remove my racing seat. I was told that they developed the AH Blue after discussions with a customer in the US who told them the 'lighter' Dark Blue was correct.
Anybody still got a car with its original dark blue interior?
