spark plug gap

I have orderd the Pertronix unit for my 1275 plus the sport coil to go with it. I have rebuilt twin Su's with and M needle and twin k&n cones. I understand that you can increase plug gap to get a bit moe ooompf.. What would be considered "correct gap"

Thanks

Woodie, I'd run between .030"~.035". You may want to experiment a bit to find what your particular engine likes.
What are you running for plugs? I use NGK BP6ES.

Chsampion N9Y I think. The coil and pertronix are on order. Car is away for the winter. I am just lining up jobs to do when I pull it out of storage in late march or early April....(sigh) so far away

Why is that? What's the advantage of the NGKs? Is there an advantage in general, or just when you use an electronic ignition?

(Inquiring minds want to know....!)

According to the good book, sparking plugs are supose to get changed every 6K. In my opinion any good brand of the correct type, etc. will work fine. Oh yea the book specifies Champion.

It's been my general experience, (and that of many owners) that our cars just seem to like NGK plugs over any others. Don't know why this is the case, but it seems to hold true for me.
They're virtually the same price as anything else, so I choose to run them in all my vehicles.
You certainly can run whatever you want.
Jack, when the book was written, there weren't a heck of a lot of choices available.

Sure wasn't Jeff, I just threw that in for a bit of history.

Golly knows what I have, autolight or something.

I run NGKs too (BP6ES) and at .030 gap.
Champions are what the book says but like the auto parts store told me years ago, they race on Champion plugs but they change them after a 1/4 mile.
NGKs are good for 10,000 miles (their ad back about 1972)
And from my expierience, NGKs do last longer than Champs, autolites, and Bosch.
